How do the Dutchies keep their house clean?

We know it’s difficult to keep your home clean and tidy when you are often occupied with moving/settling into a new community, learning a new language, adjusting to a new culture, work, exploring the city and other events.

Helpling can help you to keep your house clean during these busy days. Helpling is an online platform that matches you to cleaners in your neighborhood. You can easily arrange all matters related to your appointment from wherever you are via your Helpling account. We make sure you can arrange an appointment with a cleaner of your preference at the moment you need it. You can, for example, go for a one-off or recurring cleaning appointment and you can determine the duration of the appointment you need. On behalf of the Dutch, you're welcome!

The personal profile of each cleaner shows how experienced they are. Customers can leave a review after every clean. You can also see if a cleaner has a Certificate of Good Behaviour (VOG). Payment is easily and securely arranged online, and you only pay once the cleaning is done. To keep the quality of the platform high and transparent, we kindly ask you to leave a review for your cleaner after the booking. You are happy with a clean home and they will be happy with another positive review.

Local and private house cleaning

No two homes are the same, maybe you’ll be living with two others in a big house or you’ll be living with one other person in a tiny apartment. You might be living in a big apartment with your loved one. Basically, everything is possible, therefore you decide how the cleaner spends his or her time at your home. We know that cleaning up at home is very personal; everyone finds something else important. Talk with your cleaner about what has priority for you during the first clean. For example

  • Is it time for a major cleaning in the living room?
  • Do you need a clean house before an upcoming party or after?
  • Will you be moving anytime soon and do you need to deliver the apartment clean?
  • Are you moving into an apartment which you would like to be deep cleaned first?

If you have any other wishes, you can always talk with the cleaner through the online chat function or when they arrive at the booking. The cleaners working via Helpling are completely flexible and clean your house the way you want it to be done. That’s what we call happy house cleaning!

Single or recurring booking?

Most people prefer a recurring (two) weekly booking, this way you are always assured of a clean house, even if you are busy exploring the city or spending time with new friends. You can make a recurring booking with the same cleaner, how nice! A one-time booking is also possible, useful if you want to try Helpling out or need a deep house cleaning once. You are not tied to anything: rescheduling or cancelling appointments is always possible. Not satisfied with your current cleaner? You can switch whenever you want!

Reasons to book via Helpling

Helpling's marketplace is transparent

All cleaners on our platform have a personal profile where they can present themselves. In this public profile you can read reviews from other customers, but also the hourly rate they charge for a cleaning. In addition, cleaners can add a photo, personal text, Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and references from previous customers or employers. Cleaners set their own hourly rate, but take into account a minimum of € 14.60 per hour.

Manage your appointments easily

Log in on the website or download the app for an overview of your appointments. If you want to add, reschedule or cancel an appointment, you can easily arrange this yourself. You can also contact your cleaner through your account. There is a chat function in which you can easily send messages that are only visible to you and the cleaner that has accepted your booking requests.

Helpful customer service

Is there still something not clear to you? Do you need help? Then you can contact our customer service. If your regular cleaner can’t make it to the appointment, we can try to find a replacement for you. That way you don't have to skip a cleaning. The customer service is happy to provide support so do not hesitate to contact us if you have a question or request. The customer service is available from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

What is Helpling?

Helpling is an online marketplace where domestic helpers and households can make appointments and manage them. We are currently active in 10 different countries which makes us the largest online marketplace for domestic help services in Europe. Helpling is not a cleaning company, but a platform that links private cleaners to households. On our platform, you can find domestic cleaners in your area in just a few clicks. It’s easier than ever for cleaners to build a regular clientele. All cleaners have a profile with customer reviews, their experience and the price they ask for their services. The bulletin board with notes in the supermarket is no longer necessary, from now on you can easily find the best domestic cleaner based on thousands of reviews.

Do I need to do anything before my cleaner arrives?

Every customer is different and if it’s the cleaner’s first visit to your home, it’s good to give them some guidance. Ideally, jot down a list of cleaning priorities for your cleaner (you can do it per room, or for your entire home). This will help them to focus on the areas that are important to you. When your cleaner arrives, give them a tour and highlight your priorities and any fragile surfaces or items. Don’t forget to show the cleaner where to find your cleaning products and if you have any preferences or surfaces that need special care, make sure to let your cleaner know.

Who are the cleaners on the Helpling-platform?

The domestic cleaners who work through the Helpling-platform have a variety of backgrounds. Some of them have worked in home care or traditional cleaning companies, others have gained experience in running their own households. You can learn more about a cleaner in their personal public profile. All cleaners have their own profile on which you can read reviews from other customers, look into their experience and read a personal note. The identity of all the cleaners has been checked. Additionally, the majority of the cleaners are in possession of a VOG (Certificate of Good Conduct). This is indicated in the public profile of every domestic cleaner. The cleaners who work through Helpling-platform have an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Can I change my cleaner?

We do our best to help you find the right cleaner for your home. However, if for any reason you would like to change your cleaner, you can easily do so in your account and send a new request for another cleaner. It is important to let us know why you would like a replacement so we can then find you the perfect match.

How does pricing work?

Fair pricing is very important to us. All of the cleaners registered on our platform set their own hourly rates, and so you as a customer can choose your price range by selecting cleaners. During the booking process, you can compare profiles and prices and find cleaners in a price range that suits you best. We will only ever match you with cleaners that fit your desired price range.

Who are the cleaners and for who is Helpling?

The cleaners on our platform are private individuals who do cleaning jobs for private households. We use a third party called 'Onfido' to check the identity of the cleaners and to check whether they have a work permit for the Netherlands. Cleaners who work via the Helpling platform do that as a private individual and are directly employed by the household. This is possible through the Home Services Regulation (Regeling Dienstverlening aan Huis). With the Home Services Regulation, a household can hire someone for a maximum of 3 days per week for work in and around the house. Only private individuals can use the Home Services Regulation. This applies to both the household and the cleaner. Companies cannot find a cleaner via the Helpling platform.
