Helpling's marketplace is transparent

All cleaners on our platform have a personal profile where they can present themselves. In this public profile, you can read reviews from other customers, but also the hourly rate they charge for a cleaning. In addition, cleaners can add a photo, personal text, Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and references from previous customers or employers. Cleaners set their own hourly rate, but take into account a minimum of €14.75 per hour.

Do you prefer to spend your time on something other than cleaning your house? With Helpling you will soon have experienced cleaner that will take a lot of work off your hands so that you have more free time. Helpling is an online platform that links experienced helpers to private households who are looking for a cleaner. Compare prices and profiles and choose the cleaning help that best fits your agenda, house and wallet.

Cleaners who work via the Helpling platform do so as a private individual. They are therefore not employed by Helpling and work directly for their client(s), the households. Working in this way is made possible by the Home Services Regulation (in Dutch: Regeling Dienstverlening aan Huis), a regulation that makes it possible to hire a private person for domestic work and other odd jobs in and around the house.

How do I find a cleaner on

Finding a cleaner can be quite a challenge. How can you know for sure whether your help is reliable and experienced? At Helpling, you choose who comes to clean with you. You can see which cleaners are available in your area on the basis of your zip code. Before choosing a cleaner, you can view and compare the different profiles. The personal profile of each cleaning help shows how experienced he or she is and how the help is assessed. Customers can leave a review after every cleaning. In addition, you can see on the profile whether the domestic worker is in possession of a Certificate of Good Conduct (in Dutch: VOG). With your personal Helpling account you can easily arrange all matters concerning the cleaning at home online. You can easily schedule and reschedule appointments via the site or app, and there is a chat feature to contact your cleaner. Payment is easily and securely arranged online, only after the cleaning has taken place. To keep the quality of the platform high and transparent, we ask you to assess your household help after cleaning.

The tasks of the cleaner

No household is the same. You therefore decide how the cleaner spends his or her time at your home. For example, is it time for a major cleaning in the living room? Then you can discuss that with your help and count on it being given extra attention. Cleaning at home is very personal; everyone finds something else important so it is wise to talk about what has priority for you during the first cleaning. If you subsequently have other wishes, you can always easily indicate this via the online chat function or upon arrival of your cleaner. Consider, for example, rapping windows, dusting bookcases, mopping or thoroughly brushing your gas stove. In short, the Helpling household helpers are completely flexible and clean your house the way you want it.

Helpling, commitment-free

Most people prefer regular (two) weekly cleaning help. With Helpling you automatically have the same help every time. The ideal thing about a regular booking is that the help knows your house well and knows exactly what you find important. Moreover, with a repeat booking you are always assured of a clean house and more free time. A one-off appointment is also possible. Handy if you want to try out Helpling once or if you want to use a one-off help for spring cleaning, for example. Helpling can always be canceled, so whether you are going for a weekly or one-off booking, you can always change, reschedule or cancel your appointments. Changing your cleaner is also always possible.



Helpling is the leading marketplace for cleaning services in the Netherlands. We are not a cleaning agency or cleaning company, we are an intermediary platform that helps match customers like you with domestic cleaners. Through Helpling, you can book a cleaner in 60 seconds. Once you have booked a cleaner you should arrange with them what specific cleaning tasks you would like them to undertake, for example ironing or oven cleaning.
The cleaners who work through our platform have diverse backgrounds. A large proportion have worked in the home care or cleaning sector, others have gained experience running their households. Every cleaner is checked on his or her ID. A large part of the cleaners are in possession of a VOG (Certificate of Behavior). This is indicated in the public profile of every cleaners. The assessment of households that have been cleaned is important, all cleaners have their own profile on which you can read reviews. Cleaners working through Helpling have an average rating of 4.8 / 5 stars.
Not one household is the same. When your cleaner comes to your home for the first time, it is good to agree on what should be done and what is important. Cleaners have often have (professional) experience, but coordinating what needs to be done is useful. On the first visit, walk around the house together and indicate what you think is important. We also recommend you to explain where all cleaning products and appliances are stored. Do you have special preferences or are there surfaces that need extra attention? Discuss this with your cleaner before the cleaner starts.

Helpling would like to point out that Dutch law assumes that household work is performed on the basis of an employment contract under the Home Service Scheme (Regeling Dienstverlening aan Huis). With the Home Service Scheme, you as a household can hire someone for a maximum of 4 days a week for work in and around the house. This means that you become the employer of the cleaner after the booking request has been accepted. This also means that you can only end the relationship by mutual agreement or for a good reason. There is also a notice period upon termination of the employment contract. You can make agreements about this with your cleaner. We provide a model contract from the government for this that you can use.

We strongly recommend that you are home for the first clean of your booking to show your cleaner around. Some customers choose to give a spare key to their cleaner, but this decision is based on individual preferences. Please remember that Helpling takes no part or responsibility in the key-handling process.
The household should provide the necessary cleaning supplies.

The payment of the cleaner (labour costs) and the fee for the use of the platform (commission) is made through an external payment provider called Stripe. When you make a booking for the first time, you also enter your payment details. You thereby give Stripe permission for a continuous direct debit mandate. After every appointment, your cleaner can indicate whether the appointment has taken place and whether there are changes in, for example, the duration of the appointment. After confirmation, invoices will be automatically sent and the amount will be charged to the payment method you have chosen. In your account you can see two invoices per appointment: The invoice from the cleaner (wage costs) and the invoice from Helpling (commission).

Cleaners are insured through Helpling for material damage. If something breaks due to the cleaner’s actions, you can claim through the damage insurance, which will cover damage up to € 5,000,000. A deductible of €350 is included in the conditions. However, as a household and therefore employer of your cleaner, you should ensure a safe working environment. If injury is caused by an unsafe working environment, you as an employer can be held responsible for the damage suffered.

We always ask the cleaners who work through the platform to contact you themselves in the event of absence or illness. This way, you can look together at the possibilities for a new appointment, for example. Keep in mind that you as an employer have an obligation to continue payment in the event of illness for a maximum of 6 weeks, at a minimum of 70% percent of the wage or the minimum wage.
